A drop shot is the Wicked Worm’s home. Tie it clean, hang it level, and let the shake do the work.

Tie a Palomar knot
Double your line, pass the loop through the hook eye, tie an overhand knot, then pass the hook through the loop and cinch slowly with a wet line.

Nose-hook the worm
Run the point through the nose about a quarter inch down so the body hangs straight and falls level.

Set your tag end
Pinch a drop-shot weight 12–18 inches below the hook. Leave the tag long enough to retie or change depth.
Less is more. The bite usually comes when the bait is barely moving — stay patient and watch your line.

Let it settle
Cast past your target and let the worm fall on a semi-slack line. Most first bites come on that drop — watch the line.

Shake in place
Keep the weight planted and shake the rod tip. The worm quivers without moving — deadly on pressured fish.

Drag and pause
Drag the weight a few inches, then pause and shake again. Cover water slowly until you find the school.
01Match weight to depth and wind — heavier to hold bottom, lighter for a slower, more natural fall.
02Re-nose the worm after a few fish so it keeps sitting straight and running true.
03Clear water? Lengthen the leader and downsize the weight. Stained? Go darker for a bolder silhouette.
04After a cold front, slow everything down — long pauses and tiny shakes out-fish a fast retrieve.
